Heading checker, H1 to H6.

Enter a page address, or paste its HTML, to see the heading outline the way a search engine reads it, with a plain list of anything that should be fixed.

How to use the Heading Checker

  1. Enter a page address or switch to "Paste HTML".
  2. Read the outline: it is the table of contents of your page.
  3. Fix what the checker flags and test again.

Good to know

Headings are the skeleton of a page: they tell readers, search engines and AI assistants how the content is organised. One H1 for the main topic, H2 for sections, H3 inside sections, and no skipped levels is the safest pattern.

Questions about this tool

HTML allows it, but one clear H1 per page is the convention search engines and screen readers expect. Themes sometimes add a second H1 to a logo or a pop-up.

Yes. They show what each section is about, make the page easier to scan and are often what AI assistants quote. Use the keyword where it fits naturally.

Going from H2 straight to H4 breaks the outline for screen readers and makes the structure harder for crawlers to follow. Style size with CSS, not with the heading level.

No. It reads the page as a visitor who is not signed in. For a private page, copy its HTML and use "Paste HTML".
